My birds love this stuff we call it Yum Yum!
Begin by using deer corn or pop corn and soak over night. If you want to you can use a crock pot this will get it done that day in a few hours and use plenty of water the corn will swell lots! Once this is done drain well. Then I cook sweet potatoes or in the fall I use pumpkin, also carrots till soft. I then add fresh veggies or frozen in the fall if I cant get fresh(broccoli, zucchini, yellow, orange, red and green peppers sweet peas, white peas that I shell). I cook brown rice and whole grain pasta and add this to it. I then add dried cooked beans these must be completely cooked before you add them to the Yum Yum mix. Some beans when they are not cooked completely are very bad for birds. When all this is done I mix it all together and freeze the portion size that I need for my flock in zip locks and then just thaw out in morning and warm it up in microwave but make sure this is not too hot, stir to check for hot spots. I also add fresh fruits to this once cooked, grapes, cantaloupe, mango, oranges, banana, apples, whatever is available. Remember to check the safe food list for birds below not all food is safe!!!!!! My babies also love pine nuts, just a few sunflower seeds, millet and cheerios. This is breakfast!!! They eat it like kids eat candy, they have it all over their beaks! The rest of the day they get their pellets and lots of fresh water. I change their water about three times a day or more if needed.
